IBC Plus (stylized as i13c PLUS or IBC+) is a Philippine free-to-air television network owned and operated by the Intercontinental Broadcasting Corporation (IBC), a state broadcaster owned by the Government Communications Group under the Presidential Communications Office. IBC Plus is currently carried through analog via DWDZ UHF TV Channel 47 in Metro Manila and other relay and affiliate stations nationwide, and as a digital television subchannel in select areas of the country. It operates Mondays to Fridays from 5:30 AM to 1:00 AM and Saturdays and Sundays from 6:00 AM to 1:30 AM. However, starting Holy Week 2024, it continues to sign off from Maundy Thursday from 12:00 mn to Easter Sunday at 6:00 am.
IBC Plus is the UHF counterpart of the main IBC channel.
History[]
After almost 15 years of inactivity on television service, on April 2018, it was announced that the UHF 47 frequency under the flagship station DWDZ-TV in Metro Manila returned its operations as a test broadcast and occupied by the Intercontinental Broadcasting Corporation, which took over the frequency of DWDZ-TV 47, after the set of investors and privatization associated with Jose Avellana, the chairman of IBC, signed on about a month before the launch of IBC Plus at a planning session.
IBC management and staff members were plotting out plans to create a UHF general entertainment channel offering a success of the main IBC 13. In the lead-up to the launch, IBC acquired the rights to many Nickelodeon shows, including Nick Jr., Nickelodeon and Nickelodeon GAS are the programming content during the daytime hours; and sports shows, with additional coverage from IBC Sports, along with sports-related content which will target millennials.
In May 2018, Intercontinental Broadcasting Corporation announced plans to launch its own UHF channel. On June 4, 2018, IBC Plus was officially launched and started its commercial broadcast. The first program aired on launch morning is the first Nick Jr. show Dora the Explorer followed by its sequel series Dora and Friends: Into the City!. It came up with intensified programming led by the Filipino–dubbed version of the American TV series like Lethal Weapon and S.W.A.T.; and Tagalized movies. On the same night, the newly-revived Bantay Balita premiered, IBC Plus' nightly news program produced by IBC News and Public Affairs
In May 2020, PCOO Secretary Martin Andanar announced that IBC and IBC Plus pioneered its educational television programming by the Department of Education's DepEd TV programming block on analog free-to-air television, the test broadcasts aired from August 11 until 21, 2020 and again from September 21 until September 25, 2020 (airing from 8 am–7 pm on IBC Plus) and broadcast formally started on October 5, 2020, the starting date of classes in public schools throughout the country.[1]
On October 5, 2020, IBC Plus announced a major revamp of its programming, including the introduction of its educational television program simulcasts by the Department of Education's DepEd TV programming block (the same day for the starting date of classes in public schools throughout the country) during daytime to early evening hours (morning and afternoon), selected IBC's local entertainment shows with fresh new episodes from the main channel (including reruns of some fantaseryes like Janella: A Mermaid Tale and Syrena), which allows IBC to continue producing and distributing content and selected Taiwanovelas during primetime and local and foreign movies during late primetime hours. During weekends, the shows includes Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, Iskul Bukol, Talent ng Bayan, Tasya Fantasya and Sarah G. Live, which will be simulcasted on the UHF network's lineup every weekend primetime beginning October 10, 2020. This also marks the first time that IBC 13 programs will be aired on the UHF free-to-air television nationwide since Channel 13 started in 1960. Since then, these shows will continue to air on IBC 13. Coinciding with the announcement, these programs of IBC are separated into different blocks. These include All Day Kaibigan (kids-oriented programming and educational programming from DepEd TV from morning to early evening), It's Primetime (delayed telecasts of the NBA, cartoon, IBC-produced fantaseryes, Tagalog-dubbed Asian dramas, comedy, news, and local movies), Nickelodeon on IBC Plus (cartoons and kids-oriented programming) and Weekend Plus (Saturday and Sunday programming lineup, including coverage of the NBA during weekend mornings and afternoons and IBC-produced weekend primetime shows).
On November 2, 2020, IBC Plus, Secarats Talent Management Services (IBC's current line producer and production partnership) and Emmanventures TV Production, jointly announced that Secarats Video, TSAS Reloaded and Emmanventures will be aired on the UHF network's lineup every weekend afternoon beginning November 8, 2020, according to Secarats owner and producer Francis Custodio Abuan Jr. This marks the first time that Secarats–IBC programs under IBC and Secarats Television will be aired on UHF free-to-air nationwide since the former digital youth-oriented channel Secarats TV ended its operations on October 2, 2020. Despite this development, TSAS Reloaded will continue to air on IBC 13.
Starting October 1, 2024, the digital channel moved from Channel 13.2 to Channel 13.3.
